From upstate South Carolina: Jennifer Grissop, Ted Brady, Sharmen Pressley, Chad Bonds, Duane Slate and John Lanier join together to lead congregations in worship. God is opening doors and this ministry team is committed to walking through each one with expectancy. Jenn shares, "We are blessed beyond measure and held securely in His grip of grace as we endeavor to walk in His will and fulfill the calling He has placed on our lives."
Listen to his testimony or as he delivers a song and you soon realize Ted is the "real deal". Born in Aberdeen, NC, a preacher’s kid, Ted was the answer to his parent`s prayers when he started "tinkering" on the piano at age 12 and playing for the church congregation just three weeks later. He joined his first group at the age of fifteen and fell in love with Southern Gospel Music. Ted has 3 children: Kevin, Makaylla and Madison. Jenn shares, “He sings every part, so we can’t just say he’s our baritone singer! Plus, he plays piano, drives the bus and owns his own recording studio... we’re very blessed to have Ted as part of our ministry team!”
Sharmen, a native of Walhalla, South Carolina, now lives in Seneca with her husband, Joey and attends North Walhalla Church of God. Sharmen sings soprano and alto and plays piano. She is a proud Mama and Mimi who loves spending time with family and friends, but most of all she loves singing for Jesus and sharing her testimony. Sharmen shares, “I decided many years ago, that I wouldn’t trade “The Old Rugged Cross” to sing “Your Cheatin’ Heart”, and God has always been faithful to bless that decision.” “I’m excited to see where God is going to lead The Grissop’s. Sharmen’s vocal talent and piano skills, but more importantly her love for the Lord and desire to be used of Him and see lives touched make her the perfect addition to #teamGrissop,” adds Ted.
Jennifer, a four year graduate of Steve Hurst School of Music in Nashville, TN, sings lead, alto and sometimes soprano and plays keyboard. Affectionately known as “leather lungs”, Jenn sings her way into the audiences’ hearts every time she takes the platform. Before forming The Grissop’s, Jenn traveled with True Love, Decree and as a soloist for 5 years. Jenn has five adopted children (Javon, Savannah, Michael, Art and Larry) and wrote a song about her adoption journey called “Wrapped in Love”. Jenn makes her home in Travelers Rest, SC and attends Destination Church of God.
Chad was born and raised in Anderson, South Carolina, where he met his loving wife, Tara. Chad & Tara have two sons: Leland (who is attending seminary to be an evangelist) and Kenneth (who is a rodeo bull rider). Chad’s shares, “My dad was a giant in the faith - he had me and my brother at church every time the doors were open. I was saved as a young boy. Playing the drums is a God given talent and it’s an honor to play the drums for my Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. I thank God for the opportunity to play the drums for His glory. My prayers is that everywhere we play, if there is one soul who is lost or ready to throw the towel in, that God would use a song to draw them to Him!” “When you meet Chad, it doesn’t take long to see God all over him! He’s an incredible drummer… but more than that, he’s a worshipper! We’ve thrilled to have him joining #teamGrissop!” adds Jenn. Chad and his family attend Temple Baptist Church.
John lives in Anderson, SC and is engaged to his high school sweetheart, April Adams. The happy couple is planning an April 2018 wedding. John has been playing bass guitar and drums for over 20 years. Music is his passion and growing up a preacher’s kid, he has played most of his life. Jenn shares, “John is an incredible player and we are blessed to have him as part of our team!”
Duane is the newest member of #teamgrissop. Originally from Tampa, FL, Duane makes his home in Greenville, SC and attends College Park Church of God where he plays keyboard. He has two sons: Jordan and Austin. Duane owns a renovation company with his dad and has served as a worship pastor for 23 years. “Duane is the final piece of the puzzle we’ve been praying for. God has blessed us with a live band and we are excited to share our new sound with audiences everywhere,” adds Ted.
Rounding out #teamgrissop are four individuals who are behind the scenes but keep the ministry going. David Richards (sound engineer), Sammy Richards (sound assistant, office assistant), Tara Bonds (Chad’s wife who serves as merchandise manager) and April Adams (John’s fiancée who manages the product table and sales).
Jeremiah 29:11 - "For I know the plans I have for you," declares the Lord, "plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future." Matthew 6:33 - "Seek ye first the kingdom of God and His righteousness and all these things will be added unto you." God is surely blessing and adding unto us and making a way. We are a family, brother’s and sister’s in Christ, ordained for such a time as this to share the greatest story ever told – of Jesus and His love. Our desire is to see souls saved and lives changed – not because of us, because of Him! When you join The Grissop’s for a worship service, you will laugh and maybe cry, but our prayer is that you will leave different than you arrived... forever changed! That you receive more than entertainment - a blessing from God!
